Dean Richards

Anything goes in this week's Football Fives Podcast and the panel is challenged by both a wide array of topics and a lack of preparation. Daniel Storey, David Hartrick, Ryan Keaney and Chris Nee discuss whether it's time for a FIFA amnesty, whether Premier League 'B' teams should be allowed to play in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and whether Leicester City's potential title would be team sport's most unlikely triumph.

There's a debate about whether the fifth tier of English football should be fully professionalised and become part of the Football League, before we round off this week's episode by recommending some good football stuff we've consumed in the past few weeks.

We recorded this show after the death of Johan Cruyff, so we had a chance to pay tribute to him at the beginning of the episode. We've named this episode after another fine player, one lost far too young: Dean Richards. Richards passed away tragically a little more than five years ago and we dedicate this episode as a mark of respect.

We're back at full strength this week, all present and correct, but our institutional laziness remains. That being the case we've opted for our 35th episode to be a special one-off, and, trust us, it's going to be a one-off. Yes, this week you've been in control. All five questions were submitted by our listeners around the world*.

Our journey around five pillars of football discourse take us from our most recent football tears, why England's clubs are so far behind their European counterparts (if indeed they are so far behind) and whether the Premier League's top six should be split off for the last part of the season in the name of excitement.

We recall the best tackles in football history, or rather some of us do, and we end the show by revealing the players we pretended to be or to beat when playing football as children.

Due to unfortunate circumstances away from the beautiful game we're dipping into our bank of pre-recorded episodes for this week's Football Fives Podcast. We're sorry about this, but, before you complain, please know that the alternative was a show featuring only Daniel Storey and David Hartrick.

And who wants that? Exactly. So, with Ryan Keaney completing the contestants, this week we bring you our second pub quiz episode. Join us as host Chris Nee guides our intrepid trio of bickerers through five testing rounds of football trivia.

You know how we love a theme? Well, we've got one here too. Each round is inspired by a famous television quiz show. Can Dan avoid the gunge? Will Ryan be The Weakest Link? Is Dave going to be shot down by over-confidence in the chair? Find out within.

David Hartrick loves a goalkeeper. Oh, how he loves a goalkeeper. This week's Football Fives Podcast is short-handed because of Chris Nee's absence, but Hartch makes up for it with enthusiasm for the men between the pipes.

Daniel Storey and Ryan Keaney join Dave to discuss their favourite saves, the importance of a goalkeeper to his team and the over-inflated blame that comes with a goalkeeper's mistakes. This being F5, the final question is simply a chance to get emotional about our most unforgettable, most loved 'keepers ever.

This week, there's a lovely little bonus. Former Sunderland and Aberdeen stopper (and current Lincoln City goalkeeping coach and back-up) David Preece joins us to talk about playing the position so many of us overlook.
